Bella Bailarina Dance Academy competed against various dance studios from around the state in Phoenix on Feb. 22 at Showstoppers.

Bella Bailarina studio owners Adriana Harris and Nubia Elias attended the competition with eight of their dancers.
“The girls did very well,” Elias said. “It’s a lot of work.”
The girls competed in Hip-hop, Jazz and Tahitiano in their age category, with one dancer receiving a platinum award and seven gold awards.
Maytlin Mazon, 4, competed against five dancers in Jazz and received a gold award; Valentina Garcia,5, competed against seven dancers in Tahitiano and also received gold; Ezlynn Swanson, 7, competed among 11 dancers in Tahitiano receiving gold; Victoria Ruelas,10, danced Tahitiano against 18 other dancers and received platinum; Dayanara Luna,10, won gold against nine dancers in Hip Hop; Jessica Aliyah Rubio,10, received gold after competing against 14 dancers in Jazz; Fernanda Samaniego also received gold in Jazz competing against 13 dancers and Alexandra Chacon,8, received a gold award in her category of Tahitiano against eight other dancers.
The girls and their instructors will be headed to nationals in Anaheim, Cal. July 17-21.
“We would like to congratulate them and show them how proud we are of them,” Elias said.
