Gilbert Samuel (Sammy) Edington was born November 11, 1926, in Douglas, Az and grew up in Douglas, Bisbee, and Apache Az.

Sam attended Bisbee High School until 1945 when he enrolled in the Army. He was honorably discharged in June 1952 as a Sergeant sharpshooter marksmen and cook.
He married his love Betty Elaine Walters, May 10, 1950. They lived and worked on the John Cull Ranch east of Douglas from 1952- 1962, when they moved to Gleeson living there until 1975 when they bought a home in Sunsites, spending the rest their lives together. Gilbert was employed by the state livestock sanitary board as a livestock officer for 37 years. He loved to make spurs, fish, travel and spending time with his family and friends.
Sam is survived by wife Betty, son Fred Edington (Tana) of Willcox, grandchildren Lynn Edington Hestand of Benson, Steven Jay Edington of Willcox and Will Thomas Edington of Double Adobe; also seven great grandchildren.
Sam will be laid to rest at the Apache cemetery in Apache Az.
Memorial Services will be held April 13th 2013 in Douglas Arizona at the Elks lodge at 11 a.m. and April 20 2013 in Sunsites at the VFW at 11a.m.
