Lady Bulldogs drop 2

The Douglas Lady Bulldogs dropped two games last week. On Wednesday, March 6 the Lady Bulldogs fell to Nogales 14-7 in Nogales. On Thursday, March 7 the Lady Bulldogs were shutout by Pueblo 6-0 in Douglas. Friday’s home game with Willcox was rained out and rescheduled for April 25.Stats from the game with Nogales and Pueblo were not reported to the Douglas Dispatch by the DHS softball coaches. The Lady Bulldogs were at Benson Tuesday and then play again March 19 when they head to Desert View.


Junior Varsity

The Douglas junior varsity has kicked off its season. The Lady Bulldogs, coached by Lorena Tapia, fell to Buena 16-7 Feb. 25.Alyssa Maddux was the losing pitcher. Ariela Noriega and Susan Resendiz each hit 2 for 3 for Douglas while Jenessa Salazar was 1 for 2.The Lady Bulldogs then fell to Nogales 12-2 March 6 in Douglas. Maddux was the losing pitcher this game. Resendiz hit 1 for 2 with a double; Aileen Larez was 1 for 3; Vanessa Moreno 1 for 3 and Amanda Teran was 1 for 2.On Thursday, March 7 the JV’s finally got their first win thumping Pueblo 16-2 in Tucson. Dani Galaz was the winning pitcher. Ariela Noriega hit 2 for 2 with a triple; Victoria Sandoval 2 for 2 with a homerun and a triple; Galaz 1 for 3 with a triple; Moreno, Maddux, Elizabeth Aguilar and Gabby Rivera each went 1 for 2; Larez 1 for 1 and Sarahi Coronado 1 for 3 with a triple. “After losing two games the girls came back to beat Pueblo with Determination,” Coach Tapia said. “Against Buena and Nogales we couldn't make the plays nor hit. Everything clicked against Pueblo. I hope we keep the winning momentum.
