City Council meeting tonight

The Douglas City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers.


Fifteen items are on the agenda.

Among the items on the agenda will be the third and final reading of a ordinance authorizing the city to accept a donation of the YMCA Building on Pan American Ave.

There will also be some discussion approving the final form of articles of incorporation and bylaws for the Douglas Housing Corporation.

The council is expected to approve the appointment of Gary Clark, Rosa Vertrees, Irene Garcia and Anita Rojas to the Douglas Housing Corporation.

There will also be some discussion regarding the establishment of a transportation advisory committee and setting forth terms and membership appointment procedures, duties and purpose of the committee.

Once that is done Kathleen Heard, Danny Morales, Chris Vertrees, Corinna Carbajal, Cheri Shull, Ryan Kooi, Linda Conwell, Gary Clark, Kevin Butler and Humberto Rivera are expected to be appointed to the Transit Advisory Committee.

The council will act on the authorizing the city to allocate fiscal year 2013 and 2014 HURF and LTAF funds to cover and absorb costs to complete the street repair project in an anticipated amount of $114,372 over and above the CDBG state community development block grant funding award.

There will also be some discussion regarding the execution of an agreement between the city and Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO) to provide assistance with grant administration in and around Douglas.

The mayor and council will also approve a vehicle list and auction date for the Douglas Police Department’s vehicle auction.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public.
