City Council meeting tonight

The Douglas City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers.


Seventeen items are on the agenda.

Victor Gonzalez a member of Douglas’ Regional Economic Development Corporation, will provide an update concerning a community development plan and there will be a presentation by Douglas’ finance director Luis Pedroza concerning the fitch ratings.

Several ordinances are expected to have their second and third readings one of which pertains to the acceptance of a donation of the YMCA Building on Pan American Ave. The other ordinance pertains to the sale of some property on the west side of Pan American Ave. and Chiricahua Road for $358,630 for the development and construction of a clinical health care facility.

Six resolutions are also expected to be read. One of the resolutions is with the Arizona Department of Corrections regarding the continued use of inmate labor.

Another resolution is with the DPD and the Douglas Municipal Court for the use of providing an automated E-Ticket system.

Another resolution will allow Douglas Mayor Danny Ortega Jr. authorization to execute a formal sisterhood agreement declaring Agua Prieta, Sonoroa, Mexico a sister city.

The city will look to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Sunnyside Fire Dept for fleet maintenance and repair services.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public.
