Officials at the La Solana Care and Rehab Center on San Antonio Ave. confirmed last week that earlier this month they were taken over by a company called Haven Healthcare.

The new name will now be Haven of Douglas.
Eichman will remain on board as the executive director; Lora Pedroza will also remain as the director of nursing.
The local long term care facility has been a fixture in Douglas for a number of years. Initially it was known as the Douglas Manor, then Infinia, then in 2009 La Solana Care and Rehab and now Haven of Douglas.
“We want to be the provider of choice in the communities we serve,” said Spencer Samuelian, vice president of operations for Heaven Health Management, the management company for Haven of Douglas. “We want Haven of Douglas to be a gathering place for caring professionals and a safe haven for residents to thrive one person and one family at a time.”
Eichman said in addition to taking over the facility in Douglas, Haven Health also took over long term care facilities in Safford, Show Low, Verde Vista, Cottonwood and Flagstaff.
Eichman added the new owners did actually tour the Douglas facility prior to taking it over and were pleased by what they saw.
“They didn’t see it as a general nursing home,” she said. “I see this as being a very positive, forward thing.”
Eichman added the new owners are very knowledgeable about long term care; they’ve been in the business for over 25 years with care facilities in California, Utah and Arizona.
“They are grounded in the long term care,” she said.
Currently there are 48 residents at Haven of Douglas and approximately 57-60 full and part time employees. At capacity the facility can accommodate 64 residents for long term, rehabilitation, respite and hospice care.
The facility also offers in house services for physical, occupational and speech therapies.
All residents are provided 24-hour skilled nursing services, diverse and balanced meals, various activity programs, house keeping and laundry services, social services and a number of other peace of mind comforts that help its residents focus on life and well being.
Eichman said families who have residents staying at the facility will not see any change.
“Business will carry on as usual,” she said. “The only changes are going to be in the fact that we now have new owners; of course all the financial stuff will change for the old company to the new one but as far as the care of our residents there will be no changes. … Everything is going to stay the same.”
Eichman said she’s not sure what brought the change about but that Brett Robertson of La Solana approached the Samuelian’s about taking over the Douglas facility.
“I’m really proud of Brett for doing this,” Eichman said. “He is such as awesome person.”
Haven of Douglas looks forward to a rewarding experience as it strives to fulfill its mission and commitment to its customers, employees and the community.
