They sell clothes by Hollister, Michael Kors, Aldo, Banana Republic, Betsy Jones and many more brands at very low prices.
“The most expensive items we have are dresses at $15,” Batista said.
Batista lost her mother Cecilia Moreno last April and sent her daughter Serina to live with her father two months ago before she moved the rest of her family back to Douglas.
“Serina is really close to my dad her grandfather and she felt sad because he was by himself,” she said. “Once she moved here she kept asking me ‘mom when are you moving here’ I told her Serina it’s not that easy.”
Both Batista and her brother Eddie Moreno had wanted to open and antique store and clothing store in Douglas but didn’t know where to start.
“My brother had been looking at buildings in Douglas to purchase,” Batista said. “But I wanted to start small. That’s when we found out about this space in the Gadsden Hotel.”
That is when everything started to fall into place for the family. Batista’s husband Sergio Batista worked at the Safeway in Rio Rico and was able to get a transfer to the Bisbee store.
Batista and Moreno rented the space in the Gadsden and with support from family and friends they were able to open their store.
An emotional Batista said she is very excited and would not be able to do this without the support of many loved ones.
“I’m close to my dad and my brother and I have our own business,” she added.
The Gadsden Purchase is located inside the Gadsden Hotel hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
