Major water line break

A 10-inch water line break Friday afternoon at Omega Alpha had city crews scrambling. According to Roberto “Chubby” Flores of the City of Douglas, David Gonzalez was driving by the school around 2:20 p.m. when he saw water coming out of the ground. By 2:30 p.m. city crews were on the scene with a backhoe and worked until about 8:30 p.m. repairing the busted line. Flores said the line is about 40 years old and broke either due to age or roots from nearby trees. Water was temporarily shutoff to the school as well as the La Solana Care Facility while the line was repaired. Crews were back on the scene Monday morning finishing up the repairs.
