Bulldogs go 2-2 at tourney

The Douglas Bulldogs went 2-2 at the San Carlos tournament held Dec. 28-29 in San Carlos.


The Bulldogs began the tournament losing to Valley Sanders 51-27. Eduardo Ysea led the Dogs in scoring with nine points while Daniel Valenzuela followed with six.

The Bulldogs bounced back in game two to beat Rough Rock 65-21 as Ysea pumped in 18 points and Alejandro Villalobos followed with 11.

Douglas then won the third game over Apache Junction 38-24 as Ysea scored 22 points for Douglas and Valenzuela followed with eight.

The Bulldogs then fell to Alchesay 55-49 in the fourth game. Ysea led Douglas in scoring with 33 points. Villalobos and Ignacio Valenzuela followed with four each.

”It was a very good tournament,” Douglas’ Coach Oscar Mariscal said. “(I) saw a lot of good things as well as areas that need improvement for second half of season.” Ysea was named to the all-tournament team.

The Bulldogs are back in action hosting Buena this Friday night at 7 p.m. in the DHS gym.
