The Douglas Lady Bulldogs soccer team played three games last week and won one of the three putting an end to any hopes they had of making it to the post season.

The weather was still brisk but playable come game time.
Safford led 3-0 at the half and came away with a 5-1 win.
On Wednesday the Lady Bulldogs were in Vail taking on Empire. Douglas won this game 2-1.
On Friday the Lady Bulldogs were in Nogales where they were defeated 7-4.
Stats from all three games were not available from the Douglas coaches.
The Lady Bulldogs close out their season this Thursday at home against Santa Rita on what will be Mom and Dads night for the DHS seniors.
In junior varsity play last week the Lady Bulldogs tied Safford 1-1.
Itzel Saurez scored the tying goal in the 65th minute.
“Our mid fielders of Bryanna Gutierrez, Itzel Saurez and Catlin Kramer did a nice job controlling the game,” Coach Carlos Chavez said.
Goalie Emery Melendez had eight saves. Douglas out shot Safford 17-9.
The coach said his forwards of Danitza Grajeda, Lucero Molina and Fatima Pena kept attacking the net all night long.
On Thursday the Lady Bulldogs beat Empire’s JV’s 3-1.
Danitza Grajeda’s determination to put ball in back of net paid off as she scored two goals and Pena scored one goal. Melendez had three saves at goalie. Douglas out shot Empire 12-3.
“It was a total team effort with this win,” the coach said. “Yesica Vasquez our stopper did a real nice job keeping pressure off our goalie. I’m real happy how these girls have responded to we have asked them to do. I see some good things for girls soccer in the future.”
The Lady Bulldogs are 4-2-3 on the season.
