The SEAGO Area Agency on Aging is currently recruiting for volunteers for the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).

Volunteers will be trained to assist individuals who have questions about Medicare, Medicaid, and other types of Medicare related topics. This is a great opportunity for retired people to remain involved in the community and to make a real difference in the lives of elderly or people with disabilities who need help with Medicare or other forms of health insurance.

Training and orientation is free, and volunteers are reimbursed for all travel expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. Volunteers need to have their own transportation, and will normally spend 5 – 10 hours per month meeting with clients at scheduled locations. You cannot have an insurance license and must be people and detail oriented. Background checks will be conducted on all applicants. An ability to converse in Spanish would be very helpful in this position, but is not required. Training is scheduled January 22-25, 2013.

For further information, please contact Kathleen Heard, AAA director at 432-5301, ext. 208, in Bisbee.
