Postal rates set to go up Sunday

Beginning Sunday, January 27 the price for first class mail single piece letters will increase by a penny.


Letters weighing one ounce will now be 46 cents, additional ounces will stay the same at 20 cents per ounce.

“People buy hundreds of rolls of the forever stamp before price changes,” Postmaster Lizzie Boss said.

The “Forever” stamp will cost 46 cents the post office will honor it forever.

Other changes at the Douglas Post Office will be the late fees on mail boxes. Late fees will increase from $15 to $20.

The Pirtleville Post Office, located at 430 W. Grace, will now be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and close for lunch from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
