CBP officers intercept $91,000 in marijuana Douglas Dispatch A Mexican national was arrested Saturday, Dec. 15 for attempting to smuggle nearly $91,000 worth of marijuana through the Douglas Port of Entry. According to a press release U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred Roberto Acosta-Alvarado, 18, of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, for inspection of his Chrysler sedan. During the inspection officers used a narcotics canine who alerted to the presence of drugs. Officers then conducted a thorough inspection and found 114 packages of marijuana throughout the vehicle and in the spare tire. The drugs, weighing more than 108 pounds, and vehicle were processed for seizure. Acosta-Alvarado was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. |
