The Pirtleville Fire Department will hold their annual Children’s Christmas Party on Dec. 22 starting at 9 a.m. at the Pirtleville Fire Station on Irvine Ave. in Pirtleville.

“We will be out there until we run out of candy bags,” Sylvia Baca said. “This event has been going on for 20 years.”

Last year’s event drew over 600 children from the Douglas and Pirtleville communities.

Staff will be handing out candy bags plus there will be free hot dogs and other refreshments.

" As a Douglas business owner, I've made many donations to public functions and have always called to offer my donations not post a comment. These people just want publicity. Another thing, the restaurant owners are people who live in Mexico and have an "address" here in Douglas so I doubt that they honestly want to help our community, let's face it they just want our business to make money. Sad to say but they are people who cross back and forth to Mexico on a daily basis but make a profit from us! Have you seen the cars they drive! "

" If these business truly wanted to help, they would contact the Pirtleville Fire Dept. instead of just posting it on line. The Fire Dept. does have a phone # to call. Maybe posting their offers on line is just a way of getting cheap publicity. Those people who posted that these business offer was nice (Panchi Campbell & Silvano Perez)should relize that these business are just exploiting the poor people of Pirtleville. Unless the people of Pirtleville wqant to be exploited. "

" Iam a Pirtleville resident, and it's not that Pirtleville is forgoten. It is has been the same year after year, carde asada to raise money for the party, the parade down the streets, and Santa Clause talks to the children, and a bags of candies. PFD needs to makes changes, get more people involved, involved games with the children. More ideas can help "

" These businesses (well the ones owned by these people) just want the exposure so people could think how goody two shoes they are. These are the same people and business owners who take advantage of people and are criminals themselves. No thank you. Yell it so everyone could know how thoughtful and generous you are. "

" I think these businesses just want exposure for themselves. If they really wanted to donate something they can simply cook it and take it over to the pirtiville fire dept rather than posting comments offering to do so. Lets not forget that when we want to help it must come from the heart. Words can be taken by the wind it can be very easy to just speak. Actions speak louder than words. "

" I hope these businesses come through with their offers because Pirtiville never gets anthing. "

Silvano Perez wrote on Dec 19, 2012 10:17 AM:

" This is a very nice gesture from Grand Cafe hopefully the Pirtiville Fire Dept contacts them so they can assist. "

Pachi Campbell wrote on Dec 19, 2012 9:58 AM:

" It is very nice and thoughtful of Grand Cafe and Mi Ranchito to make these donations usually Pirtiville is forgotten for some reason. I hope Grand and Mi Ranchito live up to their word and follow through. Once again Thank You Grand Cafe and Mi Ranchito from the Campbell Family. "
