Land Lab coordinators and volunteers, Vicky Merritt, Alfred Novoa, Ron Shelton, Ginger Vaughn, Kelly and Mackenzie Kimbro and DHS culinary teacher Maggie Schmidt had cut and stacked approximately 40 dead trees and had been in search of a business or agency that had a wood chipping/mulching machine and would donate their time and equipment to the effort of mulching the trees and brush that would have otherwise been hauled from the site and not been turned into a product that could be utilized by the project for mulch and composting materials.
The end result in this collaboration is three huge piles of wood chips/mulch/composting materials that would have otherwise cost the Land Lab hundreds of dollars.
On behalf of the Land Lab Project, organizers would like to thank Warden Baca and the crew for their time and efforts to a good cause.
