Valenzuela reclaims club championship

Local golfer Marty Valenzuela reclaimed the Douglas Golf Course Club Championships which was held Oct. 20-21 at the Douglas Golf Course.

The two day stroke play event was hosted by the Douglas Golf and Social Club.

In the Championship Flight, Valenzuela reclaimed the title of Club Champion by winning his third title in the last four years. Valenzuela had a two day gross total of 148, shooting scores of 72 and 76. He was followed by Augie Ballesteros (153) who came in second with third place going to defending Club Champion Justin Uhrinek (155).

Ballesteros was the net winner in the Championship Flight with a score of 133. Second place went to Jose Montano (142) in a scorecard playoff with Luis Rodriguez (142).

In the B Flight, Ronnie Salmon prevailed in the scorecard playoff over Ed Pulsifer with both shooting a 162. Third place went to Frank “Panchito” Romero who shot a 166.

The net competition in the B Flight was won by Pulsifer carding a 136, ahead of Ronnie Salmon (140) and George Lopez (141).

The next event at the Club will be the ‘Annual Turkey Shoot’ on Saturday, November 17.

The format will be a four person scramble and is open to all Douglas Golf and Social Club and Douglas Women Golf Association members.

New members are always welcome.
