The Douglas Lady Bulldogs won two games last week.

On Oct. 8 the Lady Bulldogs beat Bisbee in four games in Bisbee before coming back the next night to sweep Palo Verde in three straight games in the DHS gym.

Against Bisbee Douglas won the first game 25-11, lost the second 20-25 then took games three and four 25-16 and 25-10.

Jenise Olivarria had two digs and 16 assists in the game. Aleen Nunez had six kills and four digs; Kianna Ross eight aces, four digs and a kill; Yadira Cuevas three kills, five digs and an ace; Aileen Alegria two digs, Ruby Samaniego one assist; Abigail Nieblas a kill and Karina Avechuco 12 kills, one block, six digs and six aces.

Against Palo Verde Douglas posted scores of 25-10, 25-10, 25-9. The entire match was over in just over 45 minutes.

Nunez had nine aces, three digs and a kill; Olivarria had an ace and six assists; Ross five aces; Cuevas seven aces, two assists and a kill; Samaniego nine assists, Jennifer Montoya six kills and Avechuco 15 kills, four digs, three aces and two blocks.

Douglas’ volleyball coach Carlos Chavez said he was very pleased with how his team played last week.

The Lady Bulldogs, 6-10, have not had the season they would have liked and they are out of the playoff picture.

Douglas closes out the season tonight with a home game against Cienega. It is Mom and Dads night for the DHS seniors who will be recognized prior to the start of the game.
