The Douglas Bulldogs made it back to back wins Friday night beating their border town rivals the Nogales Apaches 27-20 in the Bulldogs home opener. Friday’s win snapped a three year skid to the Apaches. The Bulldogs last beat their border town rivals 34-14 in 2005 at Nogales. Joel Bello and Spencer Grijalva each caught two touchdown passes from Teran Friday night. Bello finished with eight receptions for 173 yards while Grijalva h$ The Bulldogs led 20-0 at one point in the first half and were up 27-14 heading into the fourth quarter. Mental letdowns defensively led to three Nogales scores one of which came as time expired. The Bulldogs were penalized for 115-yards Friday night making it the second straight game they were penalized for over 100 yards. Look for comments from Coach Dick Keith, defensive coordinator Ron Ellsworth, Teran, Bello and Grijalva in Wednesday’s edition of the Douglas Dispatch. The Bulldogs, 2-0, are at Desert View this coming Friday before hosting Catalina Sept. 25. Click for Coach Keith interview: Video
