Cochise County interim Sheriff Rodney Rothrock, made the announcement on Sept. 27 that he plans on being a write-in candidate for the Cochise County Sheriff election Nov.6.

Rothrock, has been with CCSO for 31 years, and was a deputy along with Sheriff Dever during the Miracle Valley shoot-out in Oct. of 1982.
Dever appointed Rothrock as his Chief Deputy in 2008 and worked closely together until Dever’s death on Sept. 18.
Cochise County Republicans recently selected Mark Dannels, a deputy with CCSO, to replace Dever on the ballot.
“I am overwhelmed by the number of people that showed up today to show their support,” Rothrock said. “A few days ago a tidal wave of support came to me from all over the county…. It picked me up and made me realize that this is something that I needed to do.”

The transition will be positive the various rank and file staff will be able to continue as they have under Dever for a period of time. As command is absorbed.
Deputy Chief is well respected amongst several agencies and will be able to continue to work in concert with them.
He is respected by many county residents And I would like to point out that Deputy Cheif Rothrock stayed true to The Dever Family, the Department, the press and the overall sunami that occured with Sheriff Devers passing. He did not focus on trying to get his name on the Republican Ballot He had his priorities right.
We need this man as our Sheriff, for sure and for certain. I urge all county residents to WRITE IN Rodney Rothrock for Sheriff. "
