On Sept 12 Douglas resident Martha G. LaMadrid, 18, was apprehended by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in Tucson.

Martha LaMadrid

LaMadrid allegedly had 160 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $80,000, in her vehicle.

She was booked into the Pima County Jail and was released on Sept. 13, awaiting court appearance.

LaMadrid’s older brother, Carlos LaMadrid, was allegedly shot three times in the back by a Douglas Border Patrol, Lucas Tidwell, on March 21, 2011. The case is still pending litigation.

At the time LaMadrid was shot, he was allegedly carrying 48.2 pounds of marijuana in his pickup.

Currently Martha Guerrero, Martha and Carlos LaMadrid’s mother, is suing the federal government and Agent Lucas, sighting exemplary damages for violations of her son's civil rights.

DEA Public Information Officer, Ramona Sanchez said “no further information on Martha LaMadrid’s arrest is available at this time due to pending investigation.”

" I see nothing has changed in good ole Douglas. Drug smuggling families still ruling the city. Aren't you all sick of the excuses? Oh poor me!!! The law enforcement officers are violating my rights. If its not LaMadrid, its Peralta or some other family who used to run dope up the A Avenue ditch or Rose Ditch. We all can sit here and make excuses about God being the only judge and making mistakes, but when it comes to it people like this see nothing wrong with smuggling dope or anything else anymore than sitting in their drug money paid house and cars and collecting welfare. I bet that "La Princess" made the gang sign right after posting her little bit about, "it's ok, you are not evil, the guys wearing the badge are evil, you are just misunderstood". One person, said "what a waste of personal values". Well, you have to have values to begin with to be able to waste them. Do you actually think this was the first time this person smuggled anything? Was it Carlos LaMadrid's first time smuggling? I think not. One thing I know, it was his last. Good riddance, one less burden on society. The sad part is that not only do these leeches, like the LaMadrid family, feel that they can get away with it, but the second they get caught they turn around and sue the govt for depriving them of their right to earn a living by smuggling. They know the system more than anyone else does because they feed off it. Ms LaMadrid, you want to point the finger at somebody. Point the finger at yourself. You put your son in the grave, not anyone else. You did it by raising sons and daughters who lacked respect, reponsibility, morals, and values. You are the one who brought your family into this business. Instead of teaching your sons and daughters to work for everything, you taught them to expect everything for nothing. I bet that none of your kids finished school, if they did it was so they could sell dope during class. Some people should not breed. Unfortunately, more people like you are doing so and thus we have the world we now have with violence and death. I bet when you see your daughter in jail, the first thing out of your mouth is "I can't believe what they did this to you". I used to see it all the time back in the day as a teacher in Tx. Kids misbehave and the parents coming running asking "what did you do to my kid". But, when the kid is selling dope in school or beating up on other kids. The parents are nowhere to be found to correct them. But, don't worry Ms LaMadrid, I am sure that your remaining kids will breed, if they haven't done so already and produce leeches on society like you did. Kids ready to be taught to be nothing but no good members of society. You must be so proud!!!. "

Blood has been shed over this seemingly singular criminal act. Laws have been broken. Lies have been stated. People have been crossed. Innocence lost. From the illegal growing to the harvesting packaging and transportation of this product. Left and right laws have been broken and people have been hurt. Billions of dollars have gone into enforcing the law and preventing its passage. How many more billions have been lost and spent over the illegal consumption of said product? Has anyone reading this lost a friend or a loved one to an act associated with this product? Car crashes, overdoses, fights, poor decisions, families broken, lives destroyed, suicides, depression, school drop outs, lack of incentive, drains on society, and countless other situations are a direct result of La Madrid's actions. Nobody involved up to the consumption of an illegal drug is innocent of crimes committed prior to that puff, snort, stick, or hit. NO ONE. So wake up and smell the coffee. "

Had he just stopped and been arrested he'd still be alive today. There is NO ONE to blame but Carlos himself. In the drug trafficking business it ends either two ways: Death or Jail. He knew it when he got involved as does his whole family. Yet they want to cry when the consequences rain down on them. I don't think so. In 2009 their house was even raided by the feds. If Carlos had hit Mr. Moreno's son that day I wonder what they family would have said then. And we have EVERY RIGHT TO JUDGE, for they have brought it upon themselves. Those who put innocence in danger and break our laws have already judged themselves as well. If I had a family member involved I would turn them in. If you want to break the law without fear of consequences then go to Mexico. The family and their friends (especially those posting on here) have no one blame but themselves. "

It makes me soooo sad to think that my son is going to grow up in a world where people won't help their neighbor, their sister, their brother but will b the first one to talk bad about the obvious bad decisions others make. Where is the LOVE ppl? Man, we can't trust ppl. We can't depend on anyone. We can't ask for help because we are fearful ppl will do one thing to our face but throw stones behind our backs. Man,I am so hurt at my fellow PEOPLE? What happened to this world? What happened to loving them back to the right path? Don't get me wrong, consequences ARE NECESSARY! But, man, ppl don't have to continue to suffer for the rest of their life. Correct-in love- and forgive and move on. When did everyone stop believing in the good in people. Don't you get it: people will only do what is expected of them. If you expect them to fail--they will. Expect higher standards and ppl can achieve them. Stop being sooo dang mean and cold hearted. Try a little bit of love...it really does go a long way. If u treat ppl well, they will be good to not only u, but to everyone around them. Even when it is hard, please try to answer wrath with kindness. Even when it seems you can't, answer anger will joy! Even when u don't want to anymore because you have been burned soo many times before, give another chance. Never stop believing in the good of ppl. We have gotten so far away from the people we were intended to be. Father, forgive me. Let me be the love and forgiveness to someone who needs so I may to be loved and forgiven. How disappointed I am. But still, I can't stop believing that we can change and that there can be hope in this desolate land. Love, love, love. All we need is love.... Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason.
