Douglas celebrates Mexican Independence day

The 2012 Douglas Fiestas held its parade on Saturday, September 15 down G Ave, with approximately 26 entries.

Entries included the Douglas Chargers cheerleaders along with the Chargers midget football team; the Douglas Mexican Consul and China Poblanas from both Douglas and Agua Prieta.

Winners of the parade were: First place Douglas Fire Department, second place Toddler China Poblana Daniela Bernal and third place went to Douglas Chargers Flag Cheer.

The festivities started on Friday, Sept. 14, at Veterans Memorial Park in Douglas, with the crowning of the Douglas China Poblanas.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, Oscar A. De La Torre Mexican Consul, presented “Grito De Independencia".

The three-day event included a carnival along with food, music and entertainment.
