After three years of service to the Douglas community Espinosa Funeral Home Director Alex Espinosa announced last week he has decided to close his facility located on San Antonio and 8th Street.

“Douglas isn’t capable of supporting two funeral homes,” Espinosa said.

His three full-time workers will be moving with him to his Bisbee office which remains open and is located at 1094 W Highway 92, Bisbee, where he is currently the only funeral home.

“Times are tough, the economy has impacted every business here in Douglas,” Espinosa said. “I’m really just consolidating the funeral home in Douglas with the one in Bisbee.”

Espinosa will continue to offer his services to the Douglas community without any additional cost.

“I will still continue to offer the small town treatment,” he said.

" Mr. Reality Man, yes there is not enough people in small towns for alot of businesses to survive. But, sacrafices have to be made for a business to out last in todays economy and maybe if Mr.Espinosa would have taken better care of his business and reputation he would have not closed down this very needed service for this community. Mr. Espinosa you gave up too soon. "

" No Luke it's not that there aren't enough people dying. There is not enough people paying for their funerals. There are many towns that are smaller than Douglas that have 2 funeral homes. The prices go down when there is competition. Thank you Mr. Espinosa for trying to give us choises in our funeral needs. Good Luck in Bisbee. "
