Solar panels installed at the Fairgrounds
The Cochise County Fair Association has contracted Single Source Renewables, LLC to install a 34.65kW solar photovoltaic (PV) generating facility. The array was installed on buildings four and five at the fairgrounds, which are the 4-H buildings last week.

CQCH Digital Mammograms at Douglas November 14
Copper Queen Community Hospital (CQCH) continues to offer mobile digital mammography on a monthly basis at its Rural Health Clinics in Douglas and Palominas. The next mobile digital screenings will take place on Monday, November 14, 2011.
Car accident on A Avenue
No injured were reported in a two-vehicle auto accident which occurred October 27 at approximately 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of A Avenue and 11th St. According to Sgt. Carlos Trujillo of the Douglas Police Department a Jeep Liberty, was traveling north on A Avenue when it was struck by a Honda Odyssey that was going East through the intersection. Trujillo said the driver of the Odyssey will probably receive the citation for failing to yield from the stop sign. Neither driver required medical treatment. The accident remains under investigation.

Mayor´s investigation turned over to private law firm
Douglas City Manager, Curtis Shook, confirmed that a private law firm, McNamara, Goldsmith & Macdonald, P.C. from Tucson, has been engaged to conduct an independent investigation of Mayor Dr. Michael Gomez. The investigation is due to allegations of an ethical violation(s) and/or official misconduct which may have occurred on or about September 30, 2010 by Mayor Gomez. Mayor Gomez allegedly called James Dickson, CEO for Copper Queen Medical Associates, to ask him why he was allowing Copper Queen Medical Associate employee, Margaret Morales, to circulate a recall petition against him. The investigation was approved by the City Council on October 12, 2011.

Douglas precincts could be reduced from 7 to 5

The Cochise College music department is proud to present "Desvariaciones de la Canción Mexicana" at the Douglas Campus Little Theatre at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30.This show features two Mexican musicians' original work that focuses on issues of illegal immigration, with a sense of humor.Actress and singer Verania Luzero plays the role of "La Madre Patria" and narrates the story of an illegal immigrant who crosses the border, searching for the American Dream. The plot pokes fun at Mexican culture while illustrating the levels of culture shock the immigrant goes through while becoming acclimated to being a Mexican-American.The hour-long show utilizes popular songs from the Mexican contemporary repertoire arranged with a touch of American music, accompanied by pianist Hector Acosta."I'm excited about offering this, as the music that will be presented is Mexican regional music as well as music derived from jazz and the blues," said Cochise College music instructor Lori Keyne.Actress and singer Lucero is in her senior year at the University of Sonora's drama school. She's performed in plays, films, festivals and with bands across Mexico.Acosta earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance at the University of Arizona, where he studied under Professor Nicholas Zumbro and Dr. Paula Fan.
