" I agree with wishful thinking. What a farce high school teachers getting stipends for not having a planning period and having excessive students. Do your planning at home like all other teachers. When paychecks have been cut by 160 dollars a month it's a sad joke teachers from one school are in the mix for a stipend. Either do it for all or for none! "

" Comment to 'age factor' it doesn't matter what age the superintendent should be it's how well they do the work. Can't judge by the age.
Also, I agree with 'No stipends' commit about the teacher aides to be brought back. The board agreed with Borane having those 'pink slipped'eligible to be recalled. What does that mean? Does it mean when 'pink slipped personal' are eligible to be rehired when there is openings at the same site they had worked prior? How come those 'pink slipped' have to be looking for positions that are open at different school sites and go one interview after interviews and don't get rehired? New people with no experience are getting hired instead. I just don't understand it and yet the 'pink slipped' people are still stuggling to get employed. Is this a called a recall? I understand about having to do budget cuts but at times I believe it is unfairly. I hope there is some consideration and look into it. "

" People that make comments about age must not think there is life once you turn 60. So what, should we all quit work and rock ourselves on our front porches watching cars and time pass by? DUSD needs your experience, calmness, and hopefully you have the ability to see through the falsies . Dear, what has happened in the school district the last two years is disgusting. Hoyack and Lopez and a couple central office people were and probably still are out of control. A zebra doesn’t change its stripes. Don’t let the negative old age comments get you down. "

" I don't know but after seeing the new Superintendent she looks like she's pretty old. I think it's great she's from Douglas although she hasn't lived here for some time. I just wonder if at her age can handle the stress of this job. Someone younger would have been better! "

" unfortunately, stipends are on the agenda for a meeting on 08/24. same teachers as in the past - from the high school. what about teachers at elementary schools or at middle schools who have a lot of students in their classrooms? thought there were not going to be any stipends! what about us teachers who pay for school supplies out of our own pockets? appears that bonnie lopez is taking care of her people at dhs. " It is good to see that Sheila Rogers has Special Education experience. Douglas school administrators have not paid enough attention to the latest innovations used in other programs around the country. Staff and students have been doing the best they can, but we need new ideas. "

" Way to go Sheila, maybe this time a former resident will actually turn this district around, unlike the former predecessors who I believe were more into how much they could get out of the district and not worried about the education of the children of Douglas. "

" I hope Sheila Rogers hires back all those teacher assistants because their students need them. It is a better use of district money than paying stipends every semester to teachers who have the teacher assistants doing all the work. "
