Douglas police officers responded to a call on May 5 at approximately 12:30 p.m. involving a physical altercation at 1855 A Avenue. According to a statement by DPD Public Information Officer Sergeant Jose Duarte the 27 year old male victim was found walking southbound on A Avenue when DPD located him. The victim was stabbed three times in the back and was flown to Tucson for further medical attention. The victim is currently in stable condition, said Sgt. Duarte. He was able to provide the DPD with information of his possible attackers. DPD located the possible suspects on Dahlia Avenue in Bay Acres. Several people at the location were detained and transported to DPD for questioning. During the interviews, authorities were able to obtain further information, which led to the arrest of two male subjects. Douglas police detectives arrested Willie Neri, 28 and Victor Campoy, 32, for one count each of attempted first degree murder, a class two felony. Both Neri and Campoy were transported to the Cochise County Jail pending their initial appearance. As of press time the Douglas Police Department did not release the motive for the attack, but feel that it was not a random act of violence.
